![]() Day 1. Wed 7 Jul: Mackay to BarcaldineLeaving Mackay by 7.15am we travel to Clermont to have morning tea in the park. Passing on through Alpha we then move on to Barcaldine for the night. Overnight: Barcaldine (LD) Please ask us if you would like to travel to Mackay from Brisbane by rail Day 2. Thu 8 Jul: LongreachWe begin this morning by discovering the Workers Centre in Barcaldine and the Tree of Knowledge before we view the Machinery museum and lunch at the Wellshot Hotel in Ilfracombe. We then head to our accommodation in Longreach to freshen up for our relaxing Drover Extravaganza Dinner on the river bank’s of the Thompson River. Overnight: Longreach (BLD) Day 3. Fri 9 Jul: WintonStarting the day in Longreach we visit some attractions including Qantas Centre and the Stockman’s Hall of Fame. In the afternoon we venture onto Winton for a town tour and to check out Arno’s wall. Before dinner we have nibbles and drinks watching the sun set over the distance plains from the dinosaurs display on the hill. We call it a day in Winton. Overnight: Winton (BLD) Day 4. Sat 10 Jul: BouliaWaltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda, who’ll come to the Waltzing Matilda centre with us? Here we have morning tea before we head out to Middleton Hotel for our lunch break. We then travel through to the Boulia Min Min Encounter Centre. Overnight: Boulia (BLD) Day 5. Sun 11 Jul: Bedourie & BirdsvilleThis morning we have a leisurely breakfast before a tour of some of Boulia local attractions then its of to Bedourie for lunch. Here we’ll witness Australia’s great expanses of unblemished horizon as we head south to Birdsville. Once here we enjoy a cold beer and dinner at our accommodation the Birdsville Hotel. The Birdsville Hotel was built in 1885 and is listed by the National Trust. Day 6. Mon 12 Jul: BirdsvilleToday we explore Birdsville Working museum and visit the Birdsville Race club also visit the Burke & Wills Tree on the Diamantina River. It’s now time to go to ‘Big Red’ Dune 35 km west of the town for happy hour on these amazing red dunes. Then off to the Hotel for dinner. Overnight: Birdsville (BLD) Day 7. Tue 13 Jul: Windorah & Haddon CornerWe say goodbye to Birdsville and voyage to Windorah. Today you can experience the old Cadelga ruins for m/tea then onto Haddon Corner for a picnic lunch in the breathtaking Australian desert as we stop to appreciate it in all its glory. This evening the desert will romance us with a breathtaking sunset as we sip champagne. Overnight: Windorah (BLD) Day 8. Wed 14 Jul: Jundah, Isisford & BackallLeaving Windorah Early we go to Isisford via Jundah for morning tea. After a tour of Isisford Interpretive Centre & lunch, We then journey on to Blackall for a Woolscour tour and dinner. We stay here the night. Overnight: Blackall (BLD) Day 9. Thu 15 Jul: Alpha, Rubyvale & EmeraldToday we travel to Alpha for smoko then onto Rubyvale for lunch and some sapphire panning Pat’s Gem’s in the afternoon. Tonight accommodation is at Emerald. Overnight: Emerald (BLD) Day 10. Fri 16 Jul: MackayHomebound today we travel into Emerald for a town tour before going for m/tea at Capella and the museum tour. Lunch will be at Dysart then onto Mackay via the Bowen Coal Field Basin. (BL) Please ask us if you would like to return to Brisbane by rail Prices and Dates
