Roma tours

Day 1. Tue 10 Aug: Mackay to Taroom 

Depart Mackay 7.30am stopping at St Lawrence for mornign tea. Continuing on to lunch at Rockhampton and then travel to Dululu, Warren, stretching legs at Banana.  The balance of the day will be travelling through Theodore and stopping at the Isla Gorge National Park to see this beautiful gorge. We then travel to our accommodation in the Cattle Camp Motel Taroom. Overnight: Taroom (LD) Ask us about travelling to Mackay by rail from Brisbane

Day 2. Wed 11 Aug: Roma

Leaving Taroom at 8am we will travel through Wandoan to Roma. We will have morning tea on the way before stopping at the Big Rig for lunch and a tour. After lunch, we will embark on the brilliant Bottle Tree Bush tour of Roma. This tour includes St Paul’s Church which is known for its traditional stain glass and lead light windows, dating back to 1875. Arriving at our motel The Explorers Inn at 4.30pm for a early dinner, we will then see the Gas Night Show at the Big Rig. Overnight: Roma (BLD)

Day 3. Thu 12 Aug: St George

Depart Roma 8.00am you will travel to Surat to visit to the Cobb & Co Changing Station Museum; morning tea will be had in Surat before going onto St George. Its lunch and tasting at Riversands Vineyards on the banks of the Balonne River then will travel into St George. Here we will visit Heritage Centre and into the shop the collection ‘Unique Eggs’ to see the hand carved illuminated emu eggs. To night we stay at Riverland Motel. Overnight: St George (BLD)  

Day 4. Fri 13 Aug: Cunnamulla, Nardoo Station

This morning we stop in Bollon for morning tea before we travel onto Cunnamulla. We have lunch at Out Back Australia, the old Stephanie Mills Gallery, then we will visit ‘The Cunnamulla Fella’ Centre. We then travel onto Nardoo Station for the night. Here it is great for bathing in natural thermal springs then happy hour around the camp fire prior to dinner then another sing song around the camp fire. Overnight: Nardoo Station (BLD)

Day 5. Sat: 14 Aug: Eulo, Thargomindah

Today will start with a hearty country breakfast followed by a tour of this working sheep and cattle station with lunch & morning tea. This afternoon, after leaving Nardoo station we hit the road again. We have a breather at Eulo Queen Hotel & the Palm Grove Date Farm Winery. We will head to two places to cover accommodation at Thargomindah for the night. The Friendly town of Thargomindah has a population of 200. Here we visit Australia’s first Hydro-Electricity Scheme & other attractions like Sidney Kidman (The Cattle King). Accommodation tonight is the Oasis Motel. Overnight: Thargomindah (BLD)

Day 6. Sun 15 Aug: Eromanga

Moving through “The Dingo Barrier Fence” and the Gibba Country stopping at Noccundra Hotel (population 2x2.) This hotel was built in 1882 and is the only occupied building in the town. For lunch we go to an original Cobb & Co Staging post, Old Royal Hotel in Eromanga. Eromanga is famous for being the furtherest town from the ocean in Australia and used to be called ‘Opalopolis’ (because of the large quantity of Opals found in the area). We visit the History Museum before we head to Ray Station for the night. Overnight: Ray Station (BLD)

Day 7. Mon 16 Aug: Ray Station

Ray Station was originally settled in 1874 and surviving the drought of 1900, this sheep and cattle station has never changed hands and is now owned by the great grand child of the original settler. We spend the day touring around this amazing place learning the ways of the station & its heritage. Overnight: Ray Station (BLD)

Day 8. Tue 17 Aug: Quilpie, Charleville

Leaving Ray Station early, we head for Quilpie where we have a relaxing morning tea by the river. Travelling to Charleville, we have lunch at the Hotel Corones. We spend the evening spotting bilbies and at the Cosmos Centre and Observatory to peer at distant stars and planets that are light years away. For the evening we stay at Mulga Country Motel. Overnight: Charleville (BLD)

Day 9. Wed 8 Aug: Sapphire, Capella

Journeying to early we visit ‘Tambo Teddies’ to see sheep skin teddy bears. We then roll onto the Alpha Hotel for delicious lunch. Afterwards we fossick for gems with Pat Vine in Sapphire and spend the night at the Capella Motel. Overnight: Capella(BLD)

Day 10. Thu 19 Aug: Clermont, Moranbah & Mackay

Today we are homeward bound, but first we must seek the historic village sites of Clermont including a break at Theresa Creek Dam. We have lunch in the mining town of Moranbah before getting home at about 3pm. (BL) Ask us about travelling back to Brisbane by rail

Terms and Conditions

Reeforest Adventure Tours reserve the right to alter tour itinerary.
Deposit: A deposit of 20% per person is required at time of booking.
Final Payment: Final payment is required 6 weeks prior to departure date.
Amendments: Once the package is booked, each amendment will incur a $30 fee per person.
Cancellation Charges: Cancellation fee after booking is $200.00 per person, a 100% cancellation fee applies to packages cancelled within 1 month of departure date.
Travel Insurance: We recommend travel insurance be purchased prior to departure.
