Just a quick line to tell you how much we enjoyed the 3 day tour to Lake Eyre. What a mysterious, magical & magnificent place it is! The lake was a pale pastel abstract canvass which is hard to describe. To hear a dingo howl close by during the night at Birdsville confirmed that I was not anywhere near an urban area. Noel giving a bush poetry performance as we sat around the camp fire at Quilpie was special, too. He is so talented. Of course I was just dwelling on visiting the DIG Tree. The tree was much healthier than I had expected and the tales Bomber Johnson told in his laconic way made the tragedy come to life. Then there were pelicans, great flocks of them, on the Warburton Creek and the proof that you just need to add water to the outback land for it to blossom completed our excitement about the tour.
